Colombia Hacienda El Obraje Colibri Gesha Blend (250g)- Coffee Cycle Roasting
Columbia Hacienda El Obraje Colibri Gesha Blend
Roaster: Coffee Cycle Roasting Co. (Exclusive Roast)
Tasting notes: Cocoa powder, malt sweetness, and silky jasmine. Subtle hints of melon juiciness as it cools.
Details: Hacienda El Obraje is located in the Nariño department of Colombia, and grows coffees at some of the highest elevations in the country. The famous Gesha variety makes up over 70% of this blend. Gesha coffees, often called ‘Geisha’ coffees, are some of the most sought after and famous coffees in the world. The rest of the blend is comprised of Maracaturra coffee, a variety that is highly respected in a lot of Central American coffee production, but much more rare in Colombia.
The farmer has paired these two varieties in his Colibri blend due to their similar harvest time and comparable sugar content in the coffee cherries at harvest time. Both varieties are well known for producing some delicate floral notes, but the farm’s high elevation and meticulous farming practices have brought out a delightful richness to the final cup to balance out the experience. A nice medium light roast by the team at Coffee Cycle has perfectly highlighted both the rich chocolate tones, and elegant florals.
